While we are still definitely hatching and selling chicks, we are no longer taking orders. Trying to fill pre-orders is a messy game and can lead to disappointment. We are not a large scale hatchery. We post all available birds on our FB page as they are available. Feel free to reach out directly for a current inventory.
Yes, twice a year we have a pullet sale which includes chicks/pullets from 6-20weeks. Occasionally, at the fall sale, we offer adult hens after we select our breeding stock for the next season. We post about it on our FB page.
Absolutely! Availability is determined by the hens and what we are setting ourselves. Please email us and let us know what you are looking for. Mixed dozens, our choice, are $50. All dozens that are pure, single breeds are $75 a dozen (shipping, if you need it, is an additional $20)
The Crèvecoeur chicken is one of the oldest standard-bred breeds in France. Their name translates to “broken heart” and derives from the small town of Crève-Coeur en Ange in Normandy. This breed traces back to the 12th century.
They are calm, friendly birds that lay white eggs.
The Plymouth Rock is one of the most iconic American breeds of poultry. It was first seen in Massachusetts in the nineteenth century and for much of the early twentieth century was the most widely kept chicken breed in the United States.
We love the beautiful barring, it's outgoing nature and the nice big brown eggs!
The Ameraucana is the classic puffy cheeked blue egg layer we all love. But who doesn't love CHOCOLATE? Our new breeder flock is a beautiful rich Chocolate color. Our girls lay well and it is a nice blue egg.
We are working on a sex-linking project with this flock so that we can see the females vs males right at hatch!
This is the all black chicken you have been hearing about! They are a game type bird, curious and alert. Black feathers, bones, meat....but no, sorry, they do not lay black eggs!
We started with Cemani back in 2014 and have foundation stock direct from both Indonesia and England.
We have no mulberry, pink mouths, non-black feet or any leakage in the feathers for our breeders.
At Ole Yankee Farm, we're proud to be one of very few breeders working with this new variety. These are the "Dalmatian of Ameraucanas and not to be confused with similarly marked splash. More info coming soon!
The Marans breed originated in France, in marshy areas close to the Atlantic coast. The breed is named after the historic port town of Marans.
We love those beautiful chocolate eggs! Note that a flat brown dark chocolate is NOT correct and sometimes that can even indicate some photo editing. The true egg color should be a dark, deep rich color with russet tones.
The Welsummer is a Dutch breed. It originates in the small village of Welsum, in the eastern Netherlands. It was bred at the beginning of the twentieth century.
They are good layers of large brown eggs with speckles and splotches! Wellys are easy going, excellent foragers and reliable layers.
Ole Yankee Farm is one of few farms in the USA working with the Silver Variety
Mint Chocolate Chicks are a Ole Yankee Farm exclusive (trademark pending). These adorable chocolatey brown colored hens lays a mint to light olive green egg and many will even have chocolate chip like speckles!
And even more perfect, they are autosexing! No unwanted roosters!
Some will have beards, some will have crests - all will be adorable!
At Ole Yankee Farm, we have been breeding Orpingtons since 2005! We have had every color under the sun, projects, direct imports from the UK and have worked with both APA style and UK style Orpgintons.
We are currently working on a sexlinking pen of Chocolate and Khaki Orpingtons. The style will reflect the UK heritage but be closer in type to the American standard.
This Swedish breed was created by Father Martin Silverudd to be an auto sexing, commercial scale layer. Yeah, they lay like a good leghorn!
The hens are truly prolific layers, and the eggs are the roundest and largest of any of the breeds on the farm.

We just love all things Chococolate. And this pen is a mix of both Chocolate and Khaki (also known as mauve). The beauty is that it is a sex-linked pen meaning we can sex the chicks right at hatch. This is a big win since DNA testing is so expensive!
Who doesnt love the cool and unusual? Showgirls are the "so weird they are cute" fluff ball we all love. This is a chocolate colored pen but NOT sexlinked.
Ole Yankee Farm was one of the first USA breeders of the Bobtail Cochins having direct Pekin imports back in 2015. Fertility was low and we ended up disbanding the flock and moving on to other projects. We recently had the option to buy stock from our old lines and another breeder who has been working with them for a few year. We look forward to giving them another go! I mean look at them!
If you are going to have Turkeys, make them really great ones! So many people have admired out great Tom named Gus. Like our other types of poultry, we have worked hard to perfect this variety of Turkey. They are excellent mothers, easy going, and they make great pets or dinner!
